Lactic acid (AHA) is best suited for dull, dry and dehydrated skin. It removes dead skin cells, allowing new, fresher and smoother skin cells to emerge while hydrating the skin. At higher concentrations (starting at 10%) it improves skin elasticity, thickness and has anti-wrinkle effects. It has a larger molecule than PHA acid, so it is more superficial and does not penetrate as deeply, but still offers a good exfoliating effect. Since it does not penetrate as deeply, it is also suitable for sensitive and sensitized skin. Combining AHA and PHA acids (or even BHA acids) in the same product results in a much more intense effect.
